Avoid this potentially FATAL mistake while cleaning with bleach

If you find yourself needing to clean with bleach make sure to take proper safety precautions. NEVER, and we mean NEVER mix bleach with ammonia or other household cleaners. The combination of bleach and ammonia (as well as other household cleaners) produces extremely dangerous and toxic fumes. If you accidentally find yourself exposed to the fumes from this mixture remove yourself to fresh air immediately, preferably outdoors. If you feel the situation isn’t too severe a situation call poison control (1-800-222-1222), else call 911 for emergency help. Poison control will help give you guidance on taking care of the dangerous mixture.

It will be important to ventilate the area before going back to take care of the poisonous mixture. Give it plenty of time to dissipate before attempting to dilute and dispose of the liquid. Always follow the guidance of poison control. If you come across someone that you think has been exposed to a bleach and ammonia mixture they will most likely be unconscious. Get them to a ventilated area immediately, again this is preferably outdoors. In this case call 911 and stay on the line until they tell you it is okay to hang up.

Ammonia and bleach together make a deadly combination. Make sure whenever you are handling chemicals of any kind to take proper precautions to avoid any potentially fatal mistakes.
